Music Theatre 4 Youth
(MT4Uth)
provides the very best
quality music theatre
tuition from industry
professionals –
internationally acclaimed
directors and choreographers
currently working on
productions in the West End
and across Europe.
Music Theatre 4 Youth
(MT4Uth) was established to
give young people between
11-22 years from
across Ireland the very best
quality musical theatre
tuition, along with the
chance to perform on the
stages of various theatre
venues across the country.
MT4Uth’s main aim is to
increase access and
opportunity for our young
talent and give them a
platform on which to develop
and perform.
MT4Uth encourages the
development of talent
regardless of whether or not
there is the intention to
pursue a career in musical
theatre and helps in the
personal and social
development of young people,
building self-esteem and
confidence. During the
course of the weekend the
participants develop key
life skills -communication,
commitment, motivation and
the ability to work as part
of a team.
MT4Uth began with the
concept of "A Musical in a
Weekend" - our open access
projects for a maximum of 80
young people between the
ages of 11 and 22. During
the course of these weekends
the participants have the
opportunity to learn from
the professionals, including
some of the finest names
working in the field of
musical theatre in Europe
today.
"This was a testing
experience for the young
members of MT4Uth. To stage
musicals to such high
standards and meet such high
demands in a weekend is
quite remarkable…" Dr.
Philip Hammond,
Composer/Creative Director
DCAL
Due to both the demand for
the "Musicals in a Weekend"
and the talent emerging from
these projects, in 2006 we
introduced skills building
intensive training days
covering all aspects of
musical theatre and designed
to further enhance all
skills.
"The tutors were excellent
and really made me think
about my performance and how
to improve it." Kevin,
Belfast
For those selected by
audition - "Footlighters"
has been formed to showcase
the high level of talent,
expertise and training that
the young people receive
through the team of
International Directors, and
Choreographers.
"Music Theatre 4 Youth is
the best training ground for
youngsters who wish to make
a career on the stage. With
top international direction
and choreography, the tough
but rewarding schedule is
the main stepping stone to
stardom." Malcolm Dawson,
Secretary Armagh Lions Club
In October 2006 some of our
young performers launched
the new Opera House Brochure
at Malmaison Hotel,
performed an excerpt from
"Joseph and His Amazing
Technicolor Dreamcoat" with
Darren Day for the BBC's
Gala Evening and performed
as part of the opening of
the Grand Opera House New
Educational Facilities in
Belfast - 'The Sounds of the
Musicals'.
