All right for those of you who read this subject line I'm sure some of you were saying "what the heck is she on." Nothing other than an EP high from the NYC concerts. Will I tell you what it means, but of course.

In order:
EP: Amazing, Dazzling, Fabulous, Fantastic, Magnificent, Marvelous, Spectacular, Sensational, Stunning and Thrilling In The Allen Room

Now that is of course my opinion. And I am somewhat biased when it comes to Elaine Paige. I'm sure though that these words were used by many of those there. And yes I consulted the thesaurus.

As EP entered the room and took the stage the applause was thunderous. The crowd expected magic and magic we got. And the room itself added greatly to that magic. The scene behind EP was breath taking. A multi-story stack of slanted glass. My line of sight each evening gave me a direct view across Central Park South. A constant flow of red car lights headed east. A constant flow of headlights coming west toward Columbus Circle. The lights of numerous skyscrapers to the right and the darkness of Central Park to the left. As the cars entered the circle a reflection of lights spun around on the glass behind EP.

What a view. And what a place for EP to make, as she said, her New York concert debut. The room itself was a rather intimate setting. Some tables in front of the stage. High chairs on several levels. Regular height chairs on upper levels as you climbed or decended depending on which door you choose to enter.

Don't be afraid to let them show. Your true colors are as beautiful as a rainbow my Babymine.

She entered from stage left and had to climb only two steps to be on stage. The musicians had preceeded her and were poised to begin the music. As the applause abated she launched into her first song, An Englishman in New York. This was a very whimsical song and have to admit that I never heard it before. It was however so totally appropriate for her to sing and she ended with a portion of America from West Side Story, her favorite musical. And did she ever hold that last note. Again much applause. It was here she spoke of how her English and our English is not always the same. Crisps for chips, chips for french fries etc. And as usual she made it so funny.

She said that she really shouldn't even be in New York as she had signed on for a few weeks in Washington. Now she had been in New York for several months. So Broadway Baby is her choice. Just so glad that Follies brought her back to New York so that she could indeed be a Broadway Baby again.

Broadway Baby was her 40th Anniversary version. Again telling this audience the story of her string of musicals which ultimately took her to Evita. She is a Broadway Baby again and the words of the song are really quite prophetic. When she sang this song in her anniversary concert don't know if Follies was even in the works. Then two years later as Carlotta Champion she is indeed working for Mr. Weismann.

Do carry on with this Charlene, those of us not fortunate enough to go have to live the concerts viacriously through the generosity of those who did!
