This is the second time I have been to a concert in this venue, and it is still gets my vote for the best view for a concert in NYC.

It is stadium seating so no one's head is blocking your view. Plenty of legroom up in the mezzanine where I was seating.

It was an extremely blustery cold day in NYC.

I took the bus in from NJ and arrived in Port Authority Bus Terminal at 4:05pm. Took the subway to Columbus Circle. Ate a light dinner at Whole Foods in the Time Warner building which is the same building as the Allen Room. Stood in the cancellations line and got a $47 ticket. Yay!
The other people in line wanted 2 tickets.

Anyway, the sound in the Allen Room was excellent, and Ms. Paige was in excellent form.

A top-notch performance by a total pro. Charming. Delightful.

Others have reported on the song list, so I won't go into that.

It felt like an evening of her greatest hits.
I would have loved to hear her perform "As We Stumble Along" though.

It was an amazing concert on Friday night.  There were a few empty seats in the theatre, including 2 right next to where my friend and I were seated.  I kept thinking that those people have just missed out on an evening that would have never forgotten.

What did you think of the Allen Room?
I couldn't think of a more perfect place for her NYC concert debut other than Carnegie Hall.   Smiley

I used to write a travelouge on the forum after each of my glorious opportunities of seeing EP. It was written in the public thread so that ALL could read it. It was however condemned, and moved to pen pals. Will have to think about doing it again, maybe it can stay where all that want to, can read it.

Thanks for that Mandy - hadn't seen a set list although one of the reviews said it was very like the AC concert so had a good idea what had been sung  Smiley

I have theory about why her voice sounds so good now. When she does a musical, her voice is used to the utmost..8 times a week. When she does a concert tour...same thing. When she did Follies, she used her voice everyday but not as much as if she was the star. She sang everyday...and kept her voice in good shape...like exercising everday.

NYC loved and Elaine and Elaine seemed to love performing for them.  I thought that she truly seemed to be enjoying herself
during both performances....though Sundays had some trademark EP giggles in it. Smiley

The so called secret FB page which was referenced a few posts back, but now edited out, was not secret. Nothing is secret when it comes to FB it seems. It was and is a selected group of friends and fans and a very happy and fun place to be.

And the song list is out there from American songbook.

Where's the reference to our Facebook page, C? Am I missing something, or has something been edited since?

These concerts sound like they were excellent and from the things I've heard, and what people have told me, was an amazing night!

I look forward to Harrogate! -I really just hope its not all Jazz though.

Twas edited Seb! Rather like the one offering playbills/setlists from the NYC concerts so don't worry if that one doesn't make much sense to you!

Would love to have been at these concerts which do sound amazing but the mortgage has to come first, that's my security for old age when state pensions no longer exist!

The set list has disappeared - I had a quick look at it last night but went to have another look as my Mum asked if she sung a certain song.

Yes Harrogate will be good Clair - it's the same day as the Bucks Fizz announcement!!! Two things to look forward to. x
