As I said, the other guests watch the sequence so  there is less performance space available.  I don't care for the new Theodore Whitman only because he looks so much younger than Emily and it seems like she is there with her son.

There were some minor blocking changes during "Beautiful Girls" and "Waiting for the Girls Upstairs" that certainly added humour to the show.  I found the comic relief overall to be more apparent, more appropriate and well done.

No major changes during "Who's That Woman."  It's still fantastic.  Oh!  I think Carlotta's shoes were different?  Or maybe I could just see them better with the dress changes.  They were also a deep blue with sparkly silver heels.  There is certainly a new "ghost dancer" for Sally because I remember at KC thinking how equally matched in height everyone was and now. .. not so much.  But Carlotta's dancer is the same.

Ok other changes . . . Loveland -- some costume changes.  Nothing major.  "Buddy's Blues" hasn't changed much.  It's still beyond perfection.  Phyllis' dress during Lucy and Jessie is different.  Still mostly orange with some off-white and more flattering to Jan.  Choreography is different.  My companion thought better.  It's no worse to be certain.  Jan is still a mad scene-stealer. Wink  Ben's folly -- Live Laugh Love -- the men now wear tails and as the scene crumbles around him at the end the dancers keep dancing for quite a while.  They do not immediately disperse even as he is screaming for Phyllis

Oh when Loveland first began, the four principles wander through the scene longer, more deliberately (a bit dazed and confused) and exit upstage.

I think that's all for the changes I noted.  Now on to this performance.  I think the rest, the rehearsals, the time spent with singing teachers, and in many cases, being back home did the entire cast good.  Wow.  Just flipping wow.  Everyone was so right on and the audience being filled with family, friends, Follies fans and VIPs -- the energy in that theatre was intense.  The dancing was more energetic and fun.  Vocally, for the first time for me anyway, EVERYONE was outstanding.  You could have gone in with the highest expectations and left impressed.  And I love when that happens!  Cheesy

I thought Bernadette's performance had improved noticeably.  More emotional, more deliberate line delivery, more range.  She seemed to really be enjoying the scenes where they are essentially reminiscing about how they were.  She seemed youthful and happy then and distraught and restless by the end.  Vocally, she was sheer perfection.

Elaine was also perfection vocally.  In fact my companion, who had not previously been a fan, was extremely impressed and I think, is now on the road to recovery. Wink She repeated the Shirley Temple line but she was really incredible.  Fell for her all over again.

Everyone else, Terri, Danny, Jan, and Ron gave their usual amazing performances.  I stood as soon as the curtain call began.

You can see by the photo of the stage door that I am not the only one who was incredibly excited.  I hope I get to see another performance as amazing as this one was and that everyone else who goes to see the show in NY does as well.  There is nothing like Broadway energy with a NY audience.  It doesn't matter that everyone in the audience isn't from New York.  Once you are there, you absorb its energy and. .  .you just are a NY audience.

The orchestra, once again, were AMAZING.  "Too Many Mornings" was surreal.  "The Right Girl" - well my explanation of it was what clinched for my husband he needs to see it again.  "In Buddy's Eyes" really just made every previous performance of that song seem subpar.  "I'm Still Here" - no doubt.  And better than ever.  Oh heck, I really just died and went to theatre heaven.  For real.

Please feel free to ask me questions.  I don't mind talking about the show at all. Wink  I hope you enjoyed reading this and I hope you can go see Follies!  I love Follies.  I love Elaine Paige.  I'll be over here losing my mind now.  Cry Cry Cry  Such a good show.  Thanks again EP for being the reason I saw it in the first place.  Smiley

I just love it.  I feel as though I've been there.  Your choice of words as usual is remarkable.  This is a pleasant ending to a rather difficult day.  Thank you, Erica and, as always, thank you EP!  You open so many doors!

Thanks Birdie. Smiley  Just remembered that they also now have Sandra wearing a dark wig and glasses.  Not sure why on that choice.  Anyway.

Thanks Joanmarie. Smiley  An interesting perspective on the show to be sure.

I wasn't sure if I mentioned the theatre being smaller, but yes it's obvious.  In fact, just before Buddy stops Sally to tell her about Margie, she was nearly in the wings!  I'm sure that will self-adjust in time.

I agree fully the show is so rich that it is constantly evolving as it runs.  So I feel so fortunate that I have seen the first DC preview as well as the first Broadway preview as well as several other performances.  It is a treat to see professionals at work in a show with so much depth to offer.
