No idea if there is any truth to this - and the Kennedy Center website has no further casting details (other than Bernadette Peters):

I work 1 mile outside of DC so you all have no idea how much I'd love this to happen.  Oh wait - who am I talking to again?

But it is not confirmed.  I have twice had tickets to see my fave performers only to not have it happen.  So trust me - not a sure thing until that day.

Plus if EP played it in London instead it might be better for her career since she could play Sally and wouldn't be in Bernadette's media shadow.  Plus I need an excuse to visit London.

I'll dream along though - maybe she could do both?

Btw if this turns out to be totally unsubstantiated I will support throwing the author into the snake pit along with the latecomers and the Music Box staff!

I am sure this is more than just a rumour but, as the coverage says, "EP is in talks" so as we all know these things are never confirmed until they're on a contract.  And one of the pieces does also say Kim Cattrall was in talks (presumably for the same role Elaine might play) and has now bowed out due to scheduling problems.

If it does come off, what a great opportunity for EP - and for us guys!

What is the FOLLIES?  Is it a revue, a musical play, what what what???  I imagine that EP could do whatever it is.  Does she ever catch a breath between performances, her radio show, her recordings, etc?

Sondheim musical.  Proper one with plot, characters and all.  "Broadway Baby" is from it.  Google it. Wink

I looked at my CD for "Follies" and counted 12 female roles that are not the "young" version of the person.  Maybe 5 of those are major roles.  It's a huge cast.  The Kennedy Center dates are May 7-June 5, so it's a definite production. Why wouldn't they give Elaine a role?  I would definitely go, since I haven't had a weekend in Washington in 25 years.  Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Liz, as I sit here 1 FREAKING MILE away from the DC border -- I am hoping and praying with all my might.  =)

Would love to meet up at the new DC Wagamama's -- how cool/weird would that be?

For those that don't know, Wagamama's is a noodle restaurant (that I love btw) that started in London and now has restaurants around the world -- and one of their newest is in DC.  Grin

Erica, I was going to suggest the same thing!  We could meet up, as I would definitely come for at least 2 nights, maybe 3.   You of course would just drive in.  Wouldn't that be fun?  I love noodle restaurants - in NY my favorite is Ollie's.  Just curious about the photo with Elaine.  Did she have her hair unteased and natural?  It's so flattering.

You mean my photo with her from 1996?  Yeah, it looked "natural" to me.  Of course, who among us can REALLY claim our hair is 100% natural?  Wink

Perhaps teased and smoothed for fullness but I think she wore it similarly quite often in those days.  She looked pretty much the same the first time I met her at the stage door of the Adelphi, May 1995.
