what is a "break-a-leg"- message? I read it at the EPOS- Side but I can't find any explanation or translation anywhere....does it mean something like "spontaneous"? And what use do these messages have? And: may I request a song sung by herself or doesn't she play her own songs?

"Break-a-leg" is a term used in the theatre which really means the opposite   i.e. good luck.

There is a theatrical superstition that considers wishing a person "good luck" will actually bring bad luck!

It is believed to originate from the time when actors bent down on one knee to take curtain calls or pick up coins thrown on to the stage in appreciation of their performance.

The "break-a-leg" messages on Elaine's show are designed to give publicity to the smaller musical theatre companies by allowing them to give information about their forthcoming shows.

Elaine does play her own recordings from time to time but they are usually as part of the selection by the guests she is interviewing.

Having said that, by all means contact the show to request one of her recordings!

I've got to say....I was VERY disappointed with John and Jodie's duet...They're both all out of key and pitch!!

Liza, one of the reasons EP doesn't often play her own music on EPOS is due to BBC rules, Michael Ball is in the same situation  Roll Eyes

Does anyone have a copy of the special she did with Björn and Benny? It's not available on the EPOS page anymore and would like to hear it. Smiley

Yes, she played Howard Keel's version of 'I Won't Send Roses' after I emailed in - mind you I do email asking for Howard quite a lot so she probably just ignores mine by now!

No she doesn't and it may not get played at all. We must remember she has 2 million listeners on Sundays. So be hopeful and extremely fortunate if your request makes it on air.

How about EP version of I Dreamed a Dream. So much better than the one played today. And its EP that works for and makes money for the BBC not the other singer of that song on todays show.   Sorry my horns are showing today.
