Stupid question: Does EP choose the songs herself or does her producer write sort of a script for her?

I imagine Julie Newman puts most of the programme together, including track listing and a basic script that links songs with Elaine's chat and, crucially, keeps an eye on timings.

There is also, as we all know, quite a lot of research that goes into each programme, so I imagine Julie and her team look after all of that.

However, I am sure they have weekly production meetings with Elaine about content and ideas. And there are obviously productions, songs, artists and composers of whom Elaine is a fan herself.

Me too Judy. What a lovely voice, has that "old-fashioned" style. How come no one sounds like that any more?

I agree about Marni Nixon. I've always loved her voice.

Its an Elton John weekend on Radio 2 this coming weekend so EP will be paying tribute to Elton's musical theatre credits.  Smiley

Good show today for EP. I wonder if she'll add a Marvin Hamlisch song in her upcoming tour?

Loved the tribute to Marvin Hamlisch. I still can't believe he's gone. Sad

I can't believe how dull EPOS has become.

I listened to the Marvin Hamlisch song that EP mentioned that she has sung in concert and its a beautiful melody with moving lyrics. What a tribute it would be if EP recorded this.  Smiley

In general I have to agree. I of course love EP and she plays good songs, but the show has become too formulaic. I hope she and Julie Newman can change things up a bit.

I love the variety of music on EPOS on all her shows, but I especially enjoyed today's music.   I don't know how much input she is given for the way the program is set up, but I always like it if she is hosting it.   I hope she will continue hosting her program for as long as she wants to do it.
