The fact that she is such a good actress is one reason why her voice is so outstanding, I've rarely heard Elaine 'just' sing a song - she acts it out through her voice which is why it touches our emotions

AMEN to that Susta girl. I go to pieces when I listen to some of the "love songs" she sings. To close to home on many of them. Her Memory at ALW 50th BD at RAH is just the tops for me followed closly by Argentina the same night . Absolutely mind blowing and breathtaking. Oh to have been there.

Don't be afraid to let them show. Your true colors are as beautiful as a rainbow my Babymine.

Would love to know why she doesn't seem to get offered the roles in straight plays - surely by now producers are realising that it's insane to pigeon hole people?! Think it's about time we saw Elaine cross the line and do something in the West End that doesn't involve music - you listening out there producers???????

Wonder which route would be best for Elaine in straight theatre? The classical way such as Misanthrope etc or the more commercial way such as Calendar Girls coach party stuff!  Maybe both! That's the way Judi Dench got her Dame-ship!

Sounds like I'm fence sitting but would love to see Elaine in a Noel Coward play which is somewhere in the middle I guess.
Ideal cast would be Elaine, Julia McKenzie, Simon Williams, Paul Nicholas with the young couple being Alexandra Silbur and the only one I'm not sure of the young guy - ideas anyone?

Elaine once again expresses her desire to branch her career out into straight theatre (Radio 2 Steve Wright Show).
We are all with her on this! The depth of Elaine's acting talent has only been seen on the surface. I am sure that in the coming years Elaine will be a revelation to most people when this aspect of her talents is fully showcased.

Totally agree! The fact that she is such a great singer is because she's an excellent actress. She lives the song.

I believe this is the performance Charlene is referring to. It's so good it's almost painful to listen...

gemini ,this is I have this alw celebration and I think EP dose an outstanding job singing memory, in fact I think  she dose better here than in the cat's 1998 movie..and she also did a very good job singing don't cry for me argentina,,,the only thing about the show I don't like is she only sings twice, so I watch ALW's masterpiece which is also very good Smiley

Life goes on.

Would also like to see EP doing something really classic - she'd be great as the mother in the new production of the Railway Children for example or in an Austen adaptation even  Smiley
